All questions
Do you really come to me?
Yes. That's what the mobile in our name means. We tow the blast rig to your house, yard, shop or job site and do the work where the item sits. Some smaller parts can also be done at our shop.
What do you need from me on site?
Room to park our rig close to the item, a clear area around it that we can tarp off, and access to it. Our rig brings its own air, so most jobs don't need anything plugged in. If a job needs water or power we'll tell you when we quote it.
What about the dust and the mess?
Blasting throws spent media. We lay tarps and plastic down around the work, set up where the dust won't blow onto cars or houses, and clean up the spent media when we're done. Let us know about anything nearby that needs covering, like pools, cars or open windows.
What's the difference between sandblasting and soda blasting?
Both shoot a media at the surface with compressed air. Sandblasting uses a hard abrasive that cuts through heavy rust, mill scale and thick paint and leaves a rough profile that new coatings grip well. Soda blasting uses baking soda, which is much softer: it takes off paint and grime without cutting into the surface, but it won't remove real rust or leave a profile for paint. For rusted steel, abrasive blasting is the right tool. Call and we'll tell you what fits your job.
Can you blast my boat on the trailer or at a marina?
On the trailer in your yard is usually the simplest. Marinas and boatyards set their own rules about blasting on their property, so check with yours before booking. Tell us where the boat is and we'll talk it through.
Why does metal rust so fast in Florida?
Salt and humidity. Along the coast the air carries salt that settles on steel and holds moisture against it, and near-daily summer storms keep it wet. Bare or chipped steel can start to rust within days. That's why we prime blasted steel as soon as we can.
Do you paint after blasting?
Yes. Freshly blasted steel is at its best for primer right away, before humidity starts flash rust. We can prime and paint the same visit. See painting and coatings.
How much does sandblasting cost?
It depends on the size of the item, how much rust and paint is on it, where it is and whether you want it painted after. The fastest way to get a real number is to text a few photos and the location to (772) 539-3108 or use the free quote form.
How long does a job take?
It depends on the item and how bad the rust is. We'll give you a time estimate with your quote, and plan the work around the weather.
Will blasting damage thin car panels or fiberglass?
It can if it's done wrong. Thin sheet metal and fiberglass need the right media, pressure and distance. Tell us exactly what the part is when you ask for a quote so we plan the right approach.
What areas do you serve?
All of Florida. We're based in Vero Beach and work the Treasure Coast every week, and our industrial and commercial crews travel statewide for pipelines, tanks, mines and plants. See the service area.
Are you MSHA certified?
Yes. Our crew is MSHA certified, so we can work on mine sites, including sand mines, conveyors and dredge equipment. See sand mining and conveyors.
Do you coat potable water and wastewater tanks?
Yes. We blast and recoat potable water and wastewater tanks. Send us the tank size, what's on it now and the coating spec if you have one. See water and wastewater tanks.
Do you work on gas lines and water lines?
Yes. We blast and coat above-ground gas lines, water lines and station piping, with containment set up around the work. See pipelines, gas and water lines.
Are you hiring?
Yes. We're hiring sandblasters, industrial painters and laborers or helpers. See careers.
